- “Listen then to what the parable of the sower means: 19 When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in their heart. This is the seed sown along the path. 20 The seed falling on rocky ground refers to someone who hears the word and at once receives it with joy. 21 But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away. 22 The seed falling among the thorns refers to someone who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, making it unfruitful. 23 But the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.”
Shortly after we arrived, a gentleman named Joe was insisting to speak with an evangelist named John. He even waited for quite some time to speak with him. After their conversation, John told me that Joe wanted Jesus to forgive his sins and that the gospel made sense to him, and Joe said he was going to go home and pray to ask Jesus to be his Savior.
I was pretty excited! But also a little reluctant to assume anything because only God knows someones heart. Joe also had an atheist friend with him that didn't want to come within 20 feet of us and was staring at us from a distance. Over an hour later, Joe came back and starting mocking another evangelist. You could tell he was getting REALLY upset about things. He referenced the beatles song "let it be", and he started yelling that "if Jesus was here right now, he would say just enjoy life!". I then told him what Jesus says in the bible
- "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?"- Matthew 16:26
*James 5:5 says "You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence. You have fattened yourselves in the day of slaughter."
*Matthew 6:20 says "But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal."
*There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death."- Proverbs 14:12
The good thing is that Joe at least seemed like he wanted to know the answers and he had a lot of good questions.
We also met a young lady named Jennifer who I handed a bible tract to, and she came back and spoke with John! It was amazing and though I didn't hear what they said, you could tell God was really moving in her heart! I really pray that she continues to draw close to Jesus and God keeps working in her life. It was really a blessing meeting her! Overall, it was an amazing night and I'm just so honored that God allows us to share His good news!
In His Love,
Pray with Kay
